Hoc: Title gone as Kookas crash to Spain in Olympic semis

The Australian men's hockey team's Olympic title defence is over after they were beaten
3-2 by Spain in a dramatic semi-final in Beijing.

The Kookaburras led 2-0 early in the second half before Spain banged in two extraordinary
goals within five minutes to lock up the scores before SANTIAGO FREIXA'S strike from a
68th minute penalty corner sealed it.

Spain will meet Germany in the gold medal decider after they shocked the Netherlands
4-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the other semi-final when scores were locked at 1-1 at the
end of extra-time.

The Kookaburras were relegated to a daunting bronze medal showdown on Saturday night
with the Netherlands.
