SA:SA to argue for environmental flows
ADELAIDE, Feb 25 AAP - Any plan to save the Murray must maintain environmental flows
or communities and the environment will pay the price in the future, the South Australian
government says.
River Murray Minister Paul Caica said the government was assessing the science behind
the plan by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to return between 3000 and 4000 gigalitres
of water to the river.
Mr Caica said South Australia would not accept any move to scale back the minimum returns
if it meant the health of the basin continued to decline.
