Fed: PM says housing prices to remain high
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD says housing prices in Australia will remain high.
Mr HOWARD says one reason housing prices are rising across the country is because lowinterest rates have led to people borrowing more money.
And he's told ABC radio that's not about to change.
He says that because of the sustained period of very low rates, people can afford toborrow more to buy more expensive houses.
The prime minister says that's resulted in the whole price structure of housing aroundthe country going up.
